This is Eve

She’s a bright and fun loving two-year-old girl with a sparkle that lights up every room. She’s a real chatterbox (silence is not her strong suit) and she loves to make her mam and dad laugh. Her days are filled with wonder and curiosity as she discovers the world around her. Eve’s adventurous spirit and love for life are truly infectious.

Eve’s Story

Eve’s journey has been far from easy. Born a perfectly healthy bundle of joy her future was bright. At 9 weeks old her life was changed forever when she developed a life-threatening viral infection. The infection spread rapidly throughout her tiny body and ultimately made its way into her brain tissues causing catastrophic damage.

Her parents, just getting to know their special child, could only watch and wait while little Eve bravely fought through her illness. After many tense weeks on life support in PICU, surgery to place a tube to deliver medication directly into her heart, and a gruelling 28 days of round the clock antibiotics and antivirals - her condition eventually improved; A sigh of relief for family and friends. The day Eve was discharged from hospital was an end to a nightmare, and the beginning of a new challenge. Eve had experienced a serious brain injury, which resulted in her developing cerebral palsy and epilepsy.

Now, two years later, at a time when most toddlers are exploring their world by walking, climbing and running around, Eve hasn’t been able to take her first steps. Eve struggles to move unassisted, but that won’t stop her.

Eve’s family is dedicated to helping her grow and thrive. Each morning she wakes excited to push herself a little further than the day before. She’s already made amazing progress with the help of her physiotherapists, occupational therapists and her new best friend; Harry the equine therapy horse (who wouldn’t want a horse as a best friend?).

She works tirelessly and can now sit independently and stand with assistance but because of her cerebral palsy, her mobility is still limited. Every day Eve talks about the things she’ll do when she can “Step step step by my own self”. Despite the hard work of Eve and her family, she can’t yet move independently or explore the world at her own pace.

The Treatment

Eve dreams of walking, running and playing with her friends, and she needs help to get there. Stem cell therapy offers hope by regenerating the injured parts of her brain. With this treatment and ongoing rehabilitation, Eve can gain the strength and mobility she needs to take her first steps.

How You Can Help

Eve’s family have done everything they possibly can so far, but Eve has so much further to go. The cost of stem cell treatment and ongoing therapy is beyond their reach alone.

We need your support to fund Eve’s stem cell treatment and therapy. With your help, Eve’s dream to walk can come true. Your generosity will make a lasting difference in her life. We hope one day to tell her the story of how hundreds of people just like you helped make her dream come true.
